CINEMA WINS
- Director Robert Rodriguez annouced several of the new project he wants to begin working on. First up are two sequels to Machete. The first sequel, Machete Kills, will feature a trailer for the third film, Machete Kills Again... In Space! The film is said to feature "space babes and a lightsaper-like weapon" His other project is the long talked about Sin City 2: A Dame to Kill For. Rodriguez has stated that the film could start filming as early as this year, with the film involving two new stories written by Frank Miller. He stated he also wants to remake both Fire and Ice and Heavy Metal.
- Relativity Media has picked up the rights to make the long-awaited Voltron movie. They have taken over for Atlas Entertainment (Get Smart). A win because it Voltron.
- After Kenneth Branagh was reveled not to be return as the director of Thor 2, many wonder who would take over the Asgardian-reigns. Now, we know that Brain Kirk will be Thor 2's director. Kirk previous claims to fame include directing episodes of Dexter, Boardwalk Empire and Game of Thrones. It was also stated that the sequel may spend more time on Asgard than the first film. Thor 2 is set to be released on July, 26, 2013. In other Marvel news, both Doctor Strange and The Guardians of the Galaxy have been reveled as the next possible Marvel series.
- The world of DC Comics films have some news this week as well. The Man of Steel has added to it's cast Kevin Costner as Jonathan Kent, Diane Lane as Martha Kent and Laurence Fishburne as Perry White. Also, the first photo of Harvey Cavill as Superman as well as Anne Hathaway as Catwoman from The Dark Knight Rises were released on line this week.
CINEMA SINS
- Reese Witherspoon has signed on to star in Walt Disney Pictures's Wish List. Witherspoon will play a woman who, when she was ten, tossed a coin into a fountain and made ten wishes, that now, after 15 years, are starting to come true all at once. A sin, because the writer Randy Mayem Singer's other film, is Tooth Fairy.
- The cast of The Expendables 2 has expanded this past week as both Chuck Norris and John Travolta may be staring in the sequel, which is being released on August 17, 2012. A sin, because, well, The Expendables just wasn't very good.
- Director Tim Hill is in talks to direct to new movies. The first is a remake of Short Circuit. While Short Circuit is not a bad film, Tim Hill is a bad director, placing the remake in the Sins catagory. Hill's other film is going to be the epic adaptation of children's book masterpiece, Walter the Farting Dog. With a title like that, you just can't go right!

Cinema Wins and Cinema Sins: Trailer Edition
I'm going to do things a little differently this week. Today's CWCS will focus on the good and the bad trailers that were released this past week. So, let's kick things off with...
CINEMA WINS
- 2009's Sherlock Holmes was one of my favorite films of the years. RDJ and Jude Law made the movie, even if the actual case they were on was lacking. So, I was excited when during HP 7.5 thw trailer for the sequel, the ackwardly titled Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows, was shown. The film follows Holmes and Watson as the take on the greatest foe, Professor Moriarty. The film will be released this Christmas.
- Disney has been searching for a new hit franchise ever since Pirates of the Carribean started to get stale. (You know, after the first movie ended) and now they may have finally gotten their hit. John Carter is based of of the book series John Carter of Mars by Edagar Rice Burroughs which follows John Carter, a former military captain, who unexpectedly finds himself on the planet Mars. He then gets stuck in the middle of a conflict between the planet's inhabitants. The film stars Taylor Kitsch, Lynn Collins and Willem Dafoe. It will be released on March 9th of next year.
- The best trailer, however is, by far, the trailer for the third and final film in Christopher Nolan's Batman Trilogy with The Dark Knight Rises. The trailer, with showed up bootlegged last week, show new footage of Gary Oldman's Gordon on what looks to be life support, telling most likely Christian Bale's Bruce Wayne that Batman must return. Wayne says Batman no longer exists and then there are two quick clips of Tom Hardy's Bane. The film also stars Anne Hathaway and James Gordon-Levitt, though they are not in the trailer. The film is being released next July.

Why, Adam Sandler of course. In his latest film, Jack and Jill, Sandler plays an ad exec and his own sister. The painfully unfunny trailer also star Katie Holmes and Al Pacino. Look to avoid Jack and Jill on November 11th.

Cinema Wins and Cinema Sins: Volume 6
CINEMA WINS
- Jonah Hill and Mark Wahlberg are no strangers to buddy cop movies. Wahlberg stared with Will Ferrell in The Other Guys (Rent It). Hill will be starring with Channing Tatum is his adaptation of the tv series 21 Jump Street. But, now the two are joining forces to become the Good Time Gang. Hill and Wahlberg will play a pair of party-loving mercenaries who discover that their latest target is related to one of them. A win, because I just like Jonah Hill.
- Melissa McCarthy (Bridesmaids, Mike and Molly) and Ryan Lee (Super 8) have now joined the cast of the Knocked Up spin-off, which is now rumored to be titled This is Fourty. The will play mother and son and will star along side stars Paul Rudd and Leslie Mann who are reprise their roles from Knocked Up. The film will also star Megan Fox (Great...) and Albert Brooks. Judd Apatow is directing. A win, because I loverd Knocked Up.
- Who doesn't love Christopher Walken? Answer: A lot of stupid people. Walken is awesome which is why the news that he will play Zeus in the film Gods Behaving Badly. The film ,based off of the Marie Phillips book of the same name, follow a couple (Alicia Sliverstone and Ebon Moss-Bachrach) as they discover a house full of Greek gods, now powerless, living together. As I said Walken will play Zeus, Edie Falco will play Artemis, Oliver Platt as Apollo, Sharon Stone as (You guessed it) Aphrodite and John Turturro as Hades. Christopher Walken plays a god, making Gods Behaving Badly, the first winner of the Win of the Week award.

- Last week I reviewed Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs, which it seems was perfect timing because it was announced that plans to maked a Cloudy sequel were in the works. John Francis Daley (Sweets on Bones or the writer of Horrible Bosses, take your pick) will write the sequel, which is said to be an original idea and not an adaptation of the book's sequel Pickles to Pittsburgh. While it could have gone either way, a sin because I just didn't like the first movie.
- Many actors have played Dracula. And, arguably, none have been as good as the original Bela Lugosi. And now a new actor is ready to fight for the title of best Dracula. And that actor is: Adam Sandler! I think Lugosi's title is safe. Sandler will play the voice of Dracula in the new animated film Hotel Transylvania. Set to be released on September 21, 2012, Hotel follows a resort monster go to to get away from humans. Kevin James will play Frankenstein...MONSTER. (God, Frankenstein is the scientist. The monster's name is Frankenstein's Monster. Not just Frankenstien. FRANKENSTEIN'S MONSTER!) Sorry about that. Nerd Rage. Cee-Lo Green will play the Mummy. And Andy Samberg will play a human that screws thing up fot the hotel. David Spade, Steve Buscemi and Molly Shannon also will star. A sin, because, while that idea is cool, Adam Sandler plays Dracula. Not good.
- Video game movies have a bad rap. Many are univeraslly hated by critics and fans alike, mainly do to adaptations of games whose plot is a rip-off of severalo different movies. Now Studios are deciding to do things differently by adapting video games that has no plot! Space Invaders is video game for the Atari 2600 (Because that is so relevant now) that followed you as you destroyed aliens. And that's it. So, at the very least, we'll be gettin a generic alien movie based off of a generic alien video game. Great...
- Remember how Rooster Teeth made a fake trailer for an Angry Birds movie. Well now Angry Birds is coming to the big screen for real this time. David Maisel, who helped Marvel becomes it's own movie studio, is in charge of overseeing new development in the Angry Birdsfranchise, includin, new games, toys and, you guessed it, a movie series. A sins, because, well, Angry Birds is about pigs that kidnap birds, so other birds try to rescue them by crashing into building. What a great plot for three 2-hour films.

Cinema Wins and Cinema Sins: Super-Sized Volume 5
My vacation is over and I back with this super-sized CWCS that will cover the past 3 weeks I've missed.
CINEMA WINS
- Ed Harris and Matthew Fox will join Brad Pitt in the big zombie movie ever, World War Z. Z, which is being made on a budget of $125 Million is based off of the Max Brooks novel of the same name. The film (and novel) follow the same story every single zombie story follows: a group of survivors try to survive the zombie outbreak. But this has a lot of big name stars and and big budget. And as we all now, big budget movies are always good. Right?
- As any fan of Mad Magazine know, one of the best parts of the magazine is Spy Vs Spy. And as any fan of film knows, Ron Howard is a pretty good director. So when it was annouced that Ron Howard may be directing a Spy Vs Spy movie, things looked pretty cool. If Howard plays his cards right this could be great. Or it could be The Dilemma. And nobody want another Dilemma.
- While doing interviews for Larry Crowne Tom Hanks may have let slip that Pixar is working on Toy Story 4. This is a boarderline good/bad idea because, while all of the Toy Story movies have been good, Toy Story 3 wrapped everything up pretty well. So, is Pixar working on Toy Story 4? If they are, will it be good? Will Tom Hanks every stop being awesome? Only time will tell.
- 2013 is set to be a big year for film. So big in fact that, while it is one of my Cinema Wins, I can't fit it all in this article, so tomarrow look for my list of what's coming out in 2013.

- Studios lately have been very interested in giving movies dark and gritty feels. The Batman series, Spider-Man and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are just a few of the movies getting this treatment. So, what movie is getting a dark and gritty adaptation next, you may ask. Why, Hot Wheels of course! Do I even need to explain why a dark and gritty Hot Wheels movie is a sin.
- Jim Grant's british novel series about a former U.S. Army Military Police Major named Jack Reacher is being adapted for a new film called One Shot. Tom Cruise is set to satr as Reacher. so why is this a sin you may ask. Well, because Reacher is said to be a giant at 6 foot 5. And Tom Cruise is 5 foot 7. It's funny because Tom Cruise is short.
- Let me tell you a liitle story. A few years back Disney made an odd decision to make a movie based off of one of their rides. Many people said that this movie will be a failure. Now, what movie came out of Disney's odd idea? Why a little film called Pirates of the Carribean. Ever since Disney has tried (and failed) to recapture the success that the Pirates series was. They tried to make sequels. They tired making Prince of Persia. The closest they ever got was reviving Tron for Tron: Legacy. But, know Disney thinks they've got the new success. A movie based on their Matterhorn ride. Because that's not despreate at all.
- Adaptation of children's show hardly ever go over well with anyone but kids. But that's not gonna stop studios from trying. Now Ben 10 will step into the ring and try to be appealing to both kids and adults. Now of all of the children's shows out there, Ben 10 has a pretty good shot at being, well, good. I mean, it's about a kid that is 10 superheroes in one. That's pretty kick-ass. But, then again it's Cartoon Network, so...

Cinema Wins and Cinema Sins: Volume 4
CINEMA WINS
- My all time favorite movie monster has to be King Kong. All three of his movies (1933, 1976, 2005) are very good. And now it's been announced that Kong will return in a new animated movie. This new film will put a new twist on the series, though, as it will be told from Kong's perspective.
- Damon Lindelof, co-creator of Lost, has sign a deal with Disney to create an new film, titled 1952. It's been said that the new film has "multiple platform aspriartions" which could mean either video games, comic books or even a TV series based on this film might be possible. Like all Hollywood films now, the project is being kept a secret. All we know is the title, however it is believed that the movie will have ties to Lost or may pay tribute to the sci-fi films of the 50s. A win because it just sound cool and Lindelof is a proven writer.
- John C. Reilly, Jane Lynch, Sarah Silverman and Jack McBrayer are attached to the new animated children's movie Wreak It Ralph. Reilly stars as a villian from an old arcade game that accidently releases an arcade-destroying super-villian after he sneaks into a first-person shooter game to prove he's really a hero. McBrayer starts as Reilly's nemesis, Lynch will play a character from the FPS game and Silverman play a video game "glitch". A win, because, while the title is bad, the movie itself sounds fun.
- Also, quickly, today Indiana Jones turn 30. Happy Birthday, Indy. I got you a pet snake. That's not a problem, is it?

- Hollywood got a little carried away with sequels/reboots/remakes this week. Among the new sequels are: Salt 2, Tron 3, Terminator 5 and G.I. Joe 2. Among the re-whatevers are: Adaptations of the games Risk and Asteroids, a movie based on a View-Master toy, a Daredevil reboot, a reboot of last year's The Wolfman titled Werewolf and a new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie. Now while I don't mind a new Tron or TMNT, all of the other ideas (mainly G.I. Joe 2, the View-Master movie and Terminator 5) sound lame or just unnessecary.

Cinema Wins and Cinema Sins: E3 2011 Edition
CINEMA WINS
- The Nintendo Wii unfortunately, failed as a console because Nintendo made it very hard for third-party companies to make games for the Wii due to it's having motion controls. It also failed because I didn't offer as good a hardcore gaming experience that it competators ,the PS3 and Xbox 360. So, Nintendo has announced their newest console (the Wii U? Seriously?) and how do I feel about it? Cautiously optamistic. The fact that it has third-party support (for now) and that the touch screen controller, while bulky, looks cool and is useful means that, ya, I'm like the Wii U (FOR NOW).
- Sly Cooper will make his triumphant return to the Playstaion when the new Sly Cooper: Theives in Time is released. Not much is known, but it's nice to have you back Sly.

- Halo 4. A new Halo game. At this point does anyone care? Halo 3 was like the biggest video game ever and my friends would never stop talking about it. When Halo 4 was announced my friends acted like Halo was just any other guy on the street with green armor and a craving for alien meat flying everywhere. In other word, Halo just isn't relevant anymore. And this sequel feels more like a cash-grab than any other Halo before it. Yes, even more so than the RTS one.
- Minecraft will be coming to consoles later this year. And by consoles I mean console. And by console I mean the Xbox 360. I want Minecraft. I have a PS3. Give me Minecraft. Xbox can have it once it gets rid of it's space marine fetish.
- Valve did not announce Half-Life 2: Episode 3. So, much of episodic games being quicker to make.

P.S. That game that come out on Tuesday. You know the one. It bounced around in development hell for 14 years. Ya, that one. Guess what. It is NOT good. Trust me. I'm on the internet.
- The Nintendo Wii unfortunately, failed as a console because Nintendo made it very hard for third-party companies to make games for the Wii due to it's having motion controls. It also failed because I didn't offer as good a hardcore gaming experience that it competators ,the PS3 and Xbox 360. So, Nintendo has announced their newest console (the Wii U? Seriously?) and how do I feel about it? Cautiously optamistic. The fact that it has third-party support (for now) and that the touch screen controller, while bulky, looks cool and is useful means that, ya, I'm like the Wii U (FOR NOW).
- Sly Cooper will make his triumphant return to the Playstaion when the new Sly Cooper: Theives in Time is released. Not much is known, but it's nice to have you back Sly.

Cinema Wins and Cinema Sins: Volume 3
CINEMA WINS
- First up, new trailers for the awfully-titled Rise of the Planet of the Apes and the well-titled The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo were both released this week and both showed that these films have a very good shot at being, well, good.
- Britain has thankfully banned the Human Centipede 2: Full Sequence, with The Film Stage stating the film “presents graphic images of sexual violence, forced defecation, and mutilation,” with the perspective being that of the main character. Relating to that, while the original showed the centipede as a medical experiment, the sequel presents it as the “depraved sexual fantasy” of our lead" http://thefilmstage.com/2011/06/06/the-human-centipede-ii-full-sequence-banned-in-uk-plot-details-emerge/. A win because, weather you are anti-censorship or not (And I certainly am anti-censorship), the less people see of the Human Centipede, the better.

- It should comes as no surprise that after grossing $205 Million dollars worldwide in five days, The Hangover: Part III is in the works. A sin because, The Hangover never needed a sequel in the first place. I can even guess what this one will be about. The "Wolf Pack" travels to Canada where Doug tries to renew his vows, only to be force to join the other three after his wife's prized ant farm goes missing. They head to Jupiter where they meet a group of French tourists, Mike Tyson wearing an unicorn jacket and Mel Gibson complaining he wasn't in the sequel to a half-man, half-alligator Charlie Sheen. Wow, I got really carried away there, didn't I?
- Hawkman is getting his own movie. A sin because, well, he's Hawkman. It's like giving Aquaman his own video ga...aw, wait.
- The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn: Part 1 of 2: The Ending of The Beginning's Ending's Beginning on The Sixth of July got a trailer this week. Now I know it's easy to make fun of Twilight, but this trailer seriously sets epic action music to PEOPLE GETTING WEDDING INVITATIONS! I only expect epic action music when somebody gets invited to a birthday party that has a clown coming.

Cinema Wins and Cinema Sins: Volume 2
I'm back after a nice Memorial Day weekend with this week's Cinema Wins and Cinema Sins, starting with,
CINEMA WINS
- X-Men: First Class is getting even more good reviews and, while the week is early, is currently holding a 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
- After seeing Kung Fu Panda 2 I can happily say that, yes, it is better than the original, being bigger, riskier and better that the first one, something most sequels can seem to handle.
- As I talked about earlier in the week, The Muppets trailer actually looks fantastic and as a fan of The Muppets, this makes me very happy.
CINEMA SINS
- Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer, writers of consistantly horrifically bad spoof movies like Date Movie and Meet the Spartans, announced their next nightmare will be The Biggest Movie of All Time 3D which will be a spoof of Avatar. I'm calling it right now, this movie will have a Rotten Tomatoes rating of... 4%.
- In the catagory of Sequels Nobody Wanted, Warner Brothers announced that Yogi Bear 2 is in the works. Because one desecration of a beloved character just wasn't enough.
- In the catagory of Remakes That Screw With the Original, the Total Recall remake is offically happenning. Except that the remake won't take place on Mars. Isn't that like remaking Harry Potter without Hogwarts?

Cinema Wins and Cinema Sins: Volume 1
In this weekly series, I'll name my Cinema Wins (My favorite bits of movie news from the previous week) and Cinema Sins (My least favorite bits of movie news from the previous week).
CINEMA WINS
- Dark Knight-Fever offically begins this week as a new viral campain is started: http://www.thedarkknightrises.com/ The link show a picture of Tom Hardy as villain Bane. So far at least the photo looks great. A win because, well, it's Batman.
- Collider.com got a look at the finished X-Men: First Class and gave some very positive thoughts about the movie: http://collider.com/x-men-first-class-review/92032/ Everything from the cast, the action, the story to even the sets was praised. A win because, after two lackluster films, the X-Men series may finally be getting back on track.
- I know this has nothing to do with film, but DAMN The Mentalist finale was good!
CINEMA SINS
- Pirates of the Carribean: On Stranger Tides sadly has been getting pretty negative reviews. While many were apprehensive about the 4th movie, like I was,we were still hopeful that would not be the case. While I have yet to see the movie, I was really looking forward to this one.
- Ubisoft has plans to make 3-D movies off of three of their most popular series: Splinter Cell, Ghost Recon and Assassin's Creed. Now, while the problem with video game movies is that the games chosen tipically don't really have a story that lend itself well to film (See: Street Fighter, Doom, Resident Evil), Assassin's Creed and Splinter Cell may prove to be fine, though Ghost Recon probably won't. A sin, though, because their still 3-D video game movies. And we all know how well those turn out.
- Arnold Schwarzenegger, in light of his child scandal, has indefinately put his current project on hold. Action movie Cry Macho (Still an awful title), a new Terminator movie and animated show The Governator, have all been put on hold as of now. A sin because all of these projects all had the potental to be good and to potentally lose them because of this scandal would be a shame. Of course I may just feel that way because Schwarzenegger has always been a guilty pleasure of mine.
