Burton Back With "Dark Shadows"

It's no secret I kinda have a love/hate relationship with Tim Burton. Beetlejuice is one of my all-time favorites, Sweeney Todd was fine and his claymation movies are genius. However, his remake of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory was awful and Alice in Wonderland was one of my least favorite movies back in 2010. Now, he's back directing Dark Shadows, a film starring (who do you think?)  Johnny Depp, based off of an old soap opera of the same name.

I like it. It's not great, but the story's cool, the visuals are great and Depp is funny. Some old jokes (There's people in the TV!) still get a small laugh and the action actually looks cool. The shot of those characters falling off that cliff is awesome. Looks like it could get to be silly, but it's definitely one to watch. Dark Shadows gets released on May 11, 2012.
