Comic Con Crossover

Okay, so many of you might have watched or even gone to comic con. Well Alex didn't, and in his absense, he chose me, The Chapmaniac, to cover comic con for him. Many of you might (or might not) know that usually I'm on my own blog at http://videogamaniac.blogspot.com/ ,but don't worry, I updated that over the weekend. So, let's not waste anymore time, let's jump into Comic Con 2011.

TV and Movies

-the new Spiderman is going to be in 3D. Now, you know ow Alex feels about 3D, how it's unneccessary and all that, but in this movie, the 3D looks like it could be a major part of this movie, like Avatar. The trailer, I admit, looks good in 2D, but upon seeing it, I just know it will look ten times better. Oh yeah, and SPOILER! It looks like The Lizard is the villain this time.

-rumors that Lea Michele, Cory Monteith, and Chris Colfer where leaving Glee where put to rest by Exec. Producer Brad Falchuck. And rumors of a Glee spin-off have also been put to rest. Look like dreams really can come true.

-Jamie and Adam of the Mythbusters where at Comic Con to promote new episodes of Mythbusters, episodes that include them seeing if it's possible for a man to walk in a straight line blindfolded.

-Kristen Stewart, yes the Twighlight girl, had realeased some images of her Snow White character from the upcoming live-action movie. I'm still shocked that they looked at Bella and saw Snow White. Wow.

-The cast of Chuck discussed the serie's Final Series, in which Zachary Levi got choked up. Don't worry, I bet there's plenty of other shows that will ruin your career.

-Stephen Spieldberg and Peter Jackaon are teeming up to make the horriby titled Adventures of Tintin. Don't worry, it has Daniel Craig, Simon Pegg, and Jamie Bell, so it will be at least decent.

-delighted fans got to see some exclusive Star Wars deleted scenes released in Anticipation for the Saga's Blu-ray release. Guys, chill, it's not like they're brand-new movies.

-Justin Timberlake just announced his upcoming Sci-Fi flick, In Time, at Comic Con. I've had enough of Timberlake, thank you very much.

-There was a peak at the new Brother's Grimm Movie, and all I can say is that either it will be really good and kick ass or it will epically suck. I really see no midde ground for that film.

Video Games

-not only will the XBox Kinect Star Wars Bundle will come with Kinect Star Wars, it will also come up with an R2-D2ed XBox 360 that beeps and everything. Very Cool.
Comic Books

-As James Rolfe (the Angry Video Game Nerd) pointed out at Comic Con when he was reporting both for Spike and Cinemassacre.com, the Comics section is the least crowded part of comic con. Kinda sad, isn't it?

-The Ultimate Spider-man universe has just taken a dark turn. Apparently Peter Parker died(probabaly to be revived) ,and someone else put on the spandex, although who is never specified other than we know this person. Is it Harry? Is it Flash? Is it the Janitor? Who IS IT!!!????

-In more Ultimate News, a new Ultimate-like X-Men Comic was also released, with the publishers saying themselves that it will end badly, with the X-Men splitting. For some reason I don't care that much, anymore.

-Frank Miller announced his new graphic novel, Holy Terror, that has superheroes take on modern-day threats like Al-Queda.Originally intended to be a Batan Comic, D.C. quickly cut all traces of Batman off of the project and left Miller to defend his project as a "political work". Is that why it's called HOLY Terror?

So that was Comic Con 2011 at San Diego. So, eat your socks and wear your waffles, because... you know. See you later, Twighlight Haters.

With Great Power Comes... Great Reboots?

So, by now, many people have given their opinions on the new trailer for next summer's, The Amazing Spider-Man. http://www.traileraddict.com/trailer/spider-man-2012/trailer. And for the most part, the opinions have been this: "Wah, wah, the Sam Raimi one was better, wah, the effects are bad, wah, it different." Basically it's been a LOT of fanboy whining. I think the the trailer is awesome. I was a little unsure of the "dark and gritty" twist but they look like they've nailed it. And I am a HUGE Spider-Man fanboy.
So, lets take a look at the major complains people have with the trailer. 1. Sam Raimi's was better. Well,  I guess people can either see into the future or they are making rash decisions based off of a whole 2 MINUTES of the full movie. 2. The effects suck. Yes, the effects aren't great. But it's not like they have a whole year to polish them. Oh, wait... 3. It's too different. This is the one that pisses me off the most. People were say that the Spider-Man series needed to change after the (Wrongfully beaten) third movie came out. And when they actually change it, it's "Like totally the end of Spider-Man. God, Marc Webb is a f*cking moron." Honestly, the trailer for this Spider-Man doesn't really look too different from the others. So, fanboys, please. Stop complain and accept the fact. Raimi's Spidey is gone. Webb's Spidey is here. And it is good.

The Power is Yours...To Remake

Yesterday it was announced that Susan Montford and Don Murphy, the producers of Transformers: Dark of the Moon, are teaming up with Cartoon Network to make a new, live-action movie based off of the classic 90s animated series, Captain Planet and the Planeteers.

Now I personally have mixed feelings about this. I love Captain Planet, but I'm not a fan of Transformers: Dark of the Moon. So, let me know what you think of the idea. Do you like it? Who should play Captain Planet? Personally, I say Ryan Renyolds should get to play a magic flying man that has magic power rings. How can that possibly go wrong?

Cinema Wins and Cinema Sins: Trailer Edition

I'm going to do things a little differently this week. Today's CWCS will focus on the good and the bad trailers that were released this past week. So, let's kick things off with...

CINEMA WINS
- 2009's Sherlock Holmes was one of my favorite films of the years. RDJ and Jude Law made the movie, even if the actual case they were on was lacking. So, I was excited when during HP 7.5 thw trailer for the sequel, the ackwardly titled Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows, was shown. The film follows Holmes and Watson as the take on the greatest foe, Professor Moriarty. The film will be released this Christmas.

- Disney has been searching for a new hit franchise ever since Pirates of the Carribean started to get stale. (You know, after the first movie ended) and now they may have finally gotten their hit. John Carter is based of of the book series John Carter of Mars by Edagar Rice  Burroughs which follows John Carter, a former military captain, who unexpectedly finds himself on the planet Mars. He then gets stuck in the middle of a conflict between the planet's inhabitants. The film stars Taylor Kitsch, Lynn Collins and Willem Dafoe. It will be released on March 9th of next year.

- The best trailer, however is, by far, the trailer for the third and final film in Christopher Nolan's Batman Trilogy with The Dark Knight Rises. The trailer, with showed up bootlegged last week, show new footage of Gary Oldman's Gordon on what looks to be life support, telling most likely Christian Bale's Bruce Wayne that Batman must return. Wayne says Batman no longer exists and then there are two quick clips of Tom Hardy's Bane. The film also stars Anne Hathaway and James Gordon-Levitt, though they are not in the trailer. The film is being released next July.

CINEMA SINS
- Martin Scorsese is no doubt a great director. So, why does his latest filmlook so boring and cliched. Hugo follows Asa Butterfield's Hugo Cabret as he team up with Chloe Moretz to find his missing Jude Law. I'm mean father played by Jude Law. The film also stars Sasha Baron Cohen and Ben Kingsley. Now, the film could surprise me, but for now it just looks lame. Hugo comes out on November 23 of this year.

- When ever a good actor dresses in drag and then takes it seriously, that almost always never works, *coughTylerPerrycough*. So, who the next actor to put on a dress in an unironic way. Why, Adam Sandler of course. In his latest film, Jack and Jill, Sandler plays an ad exec and his own sister. The painfully unfunny trailer also star Katie Holmes and Al Pacino. Look to avoid Jack and Jill on November 11th.

See you later

P.S. All of these trailer can be viewed on the awesome website, Trailer Addict.

"Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part II" Review

BUBBLE, BUBBLE, BIOL AND SPOILERS! THIS IS A SPOILER WARNING!

The Review: Now first off, if you're wondering why there is no Introduction part of this review, it's because, by now, you know who Harry Potter is and what this film is about, and if you don't know who Harry Potter is, then at this point, you're not going to care what it's about.
So, now, after 10 years, 7 films and billions of dollars, the Harry Potter series draws to a close with the 8th and final film, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part II. Before I get to the bad stuff let me just say, yes, this is the best of the Harry Potter series. It's a great movie and if you are a fan of the books, then it's all you could have dreamed of and so much more. But, that doesn't mean it's without it's flaws.
The biggest flaw of the film is the fans. Not the fans of the books. No, but people, like me, who have never read a single Harry Potter book and has only watched the movies. Not that if you haven't read the books, you'll hate this movie. More, if you haven't read the books, you notice problems that book fans might not. Like how the characters romantic relashionships still don't feel right. Now, maybe I missed something, but, through the entire movie series I thought that the main couple would be Harry and Harmione. Harry's romance with his best friend's sister, Ginny, never really felt right to me. Nor did Ron and Harmione either.
Another problem is the introduction of character that we've never met before going unexplained and the deaths of major characters happening off screen. Which leads me to my biggest problem with this film. If this is the big epic conclusion, then why does the film ignore that fact?
Between characters dying then hardly getting another mention and major plot points going unseen (Like suddenly, Voldemort has kidnapped Hagrid. Glad we weren't even told of that fact. Doesn't really seem inportant.), the film acts as though there are still more movies to come. There's no long good-byes scene. There no "Gee, this is really the end" moment in this film. Hell, when Harry kills Voldemort, there's not even a scene of people celebrating. It just is never spoken of again.
Not that this film doesn't have it's fair share of touching moments. The scene you'll love the most is the final tear-jerking epilouge. For me, however, it was the scene where Harry watches Snape memories, because of those "Ah, it all make sense now" moments that I personally love and it felyt as though it brought the series full circle.

The Verdict: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part II is the finale fans have been waiting for. Filled with great action, acting and touching moment, it is the best Harry Potter film to date. However, due to the film's unexplained deaths and plot points and it's odd fear of acknowledging the fact that it's the end, the highest rating I can give Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part II is: 5 out of 6.

"Transformers: Dark of the Moon 3D" Review

Introduction: Transformers: Dark of the Moon 3D is based off of the Hasbro toy line and the TV series of the same name. Directed again by Michael Bay, the film follow Sam Witwicky (Shia LaBeouf) and his new girlfriend Carly (Rosie Huntington-Whiteley) as they help the Autobots, lead by Optimus Prime (Peter Cullen) stop Megatron (Hugo Weaving) from capturing the new magical thingamagig called the "Space Bridge" which...does...stuff? Look it's a Transformers movie. Does anyone really care about the plot? The film also stars Leonard Nimoy as New Transformer #5, Josh Duhamel as Army-Tough Guy #3 and Patrick Dempsey as a Jockass #8.

The Review: Let me start out by saying what I thought of the last Transformers movies. Transformers I liked. I thought the action was great, the effects were good, the acting was good and it was pretty funny. The story was... well the action was REALLY good. Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen wasn't nearly as good as the first. I mean, I don't hate it as much as it seems everyone else does, but I didn't really like it either. The twins where annoying as hell. Megan Fox REALLY couldn't act. And the story... well the action was pretty good. As for Transformers: Dark of the Moon 3D, well, the action was good.
Here's the problem. Michael Bay, it seems, so badly has a hard-on for the US Mititary and a need to put as many 'spolsions in his movies that he just made the same movie three time to accomplish getting his weird "Soldiers-Running-From-Fireballs" fetish. It worked the first time because, it was the first time we saw it. It was really cool. The second time it was, passable. The third time it's just boring. The plot's the same as the first two. The action is exactly the same. I mean, people are complaining the Bay reused footage from, his last non-Transformers movie, The Island, when I'm almost positive that he just copy-and-pasted the entire ending of the first Transformers on tohere. It's a giant final battle in a major US city. Sound familiar?
The weird irony is that those people, like me, who defended Revenge of the Fallen as just a fun movie but didn't like this film, are being told by the people who hated Fallen that Moon is just a fun movie. And, to be honest, yes,Dark of the Moon, on a pure film-making standpoint, is better than Revenge of the Fallen. It's just that I kinda liked Fallen so, not only is Moon a dissapointment, but, because I liked Fallen, I don't feel the relief that most critics got becuse they thought Moon was better. At least the 3D was good enough.

The Verdict: Overall, if you hated Revenge of the Fallen you may like this one. If you've never seen a Transformers movie before, you'll love this. Or, like Michael Bay, if you think thatsplosions are just the bees-knees and think that Call of Duty: Black Ops and Gears of War are the greatest games ever, then you'll LOVE this. But, if you've liked the last two Transformers movie, then Transformers: Dark of the Moon 3D will most likely end up a big, shiny, boring dissapointment. Still, if you get a group of your friends and make fun of this movie, you may have a good time, which is why Transformers: Dark of the Moon 3D gets a rating of: 1.5 out of 6.

Cinema Wins and Cinema Sins: Volume 6

CINEMA WINS
- Jonah Hill and Mark Wahlberg are no strangers to buddy cop movies. Wahlberg stared with Will Ferrell in The Other Guys (Rent It). Hill will be starring with Channing Tatum is his adaptation of the tv series 21 Jump Street. But, now the two are joining forces to become the Good Time Gang. Hill and Wahlberg will play a pair of party-loving mercenaries who discover that their latest target is related to one of them. A win, because I just like Jonah Hill.

- Melissa McCarthy (Bridesmaids, Mike and Molly) and Ryan Lee (Super 8) have now joined the cast of the Knocked Up spin-off, which is now rumored to be titled This is Fourty. The will play mother and son and will star along side stars Paul Rudd and Leslie Mann who are reprise their roles from Knocked Up. The film will also star Megan Fox (Great...) and Albert Brooks. Judd Apatow is directing. A win, because I loverd Knocked Up.

- Who doesn't love Christopher Walken? Answer: A lot of stupid people. Walken is awesome which is why the news that he will play Zeus in the film Gods Behaving Badly. The film ,based off of the Marie Phillips book of the same name, follow a couple (Alicia Sliverstone and Ebon Moss-Bachrach) as they discover a house full of Greek gods, now powerless, living together. As I said Walken will play Zeus, Edie Falco will play Artemis, Oliver Platt as Apollo, Sharon Stone as (You guessed it) Aphrodite and John Turturro as Hades. Christopher Walken plays a god, making Gods Behaving Badly, the first winner of the Win of the Week award.

CINEMA SINS
- Last week I reviewed Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs, which it seems was perfect timing because it was announced that plans to maked a Cloudy sequel were in the works. John Francis Daley (Sweets on Bones or the writer of Horrible Bosses, take your pick) will write the sequel, which is said to be an original idea and not an adaptation of the book's sequel Pickles to Pittsburgh. While it could have gone either way, a sin because I just didn't like the first movie.

- Many actors have played Dracula. And, arguably, none have been as good as the original Bela Lugosi. And now a new actor is ready to fight for the title of best Dracula. And that actor is: Adam Sandler! I think Lugosi's title is safe. Sandler will play the voice of Dracula in the new animated film Hotel Transylvania. Set to be released on September 21, 2012, Hotel follows a resort monster go to to get away from humans. Kevin James will play Frankenstein...MONSTER. (God, Frankenstein is the scientist. The monster's name is Frankenstein's Monster. Not just Frankenstien. FRANKENSTEIN'S MONSTER!) Sorry about that. Nerd Rage. Cee-Lo Green will play the Mummy. And Andy Samberg will play a human that screws thing up fot the hotel. David Spade, Steve Buscemi and Molly Shannon also will star. A sin, because, while that idea is cool, Adam Sandler plays Dracula. Not good.

- Video game movies have a bad rap. Many are univeraslly hated by critics and fans alike, mainly do to adaptations of games whose plot is a rip-off of severalo different movies. Now Studios are deciding to do things differently by adapting video games that has no plot! Space Invaders is video game for the Atari 2600 (Because that is so relevant now) that followed you as you destroyed aliens. And that's it. So, at the very least, we'll be gettin a generic alien movie based off of a generic alien video game. Great...

- Remember how Rooster Teeth made a fake trailer for an Angry Birds movie. Well now Angry Birds is coming to the big screen for real this time. David Maisel, who helped Marvel becomes it's own movie studio, is in charge of overseeing new development in the Angry Birdsfranchise, includin, new games, toys and, you guessed it, a movie series. A sins, because, well, Angry Birds is about pigs that kidnap birds, so other birds try to rescue them by crashing into building. What a great plot for three 2-hour films.

See You Later

"Cars 2" Review

Introduction: Cars 2 is a follow-up to 2006's Cars. Made by Pixar Studios it follow Tow Mater (Larry the Cable Guy) as he teams up with british spies Finn McMissile (Michael Caine) and Holly Shiftwell (Emily Mortimer) to stop a group of evil lemons from sabatoging the World Grand Prix, in which Lightning McQueen (Owen Wilson) is competing. The film also stars Eddie Izzard as the race's organizer and a hilarious John Turturro as one of McQueen's competators.

The Review: First off, before I start the review, let me just say that the people at Pixar are geniuses for following Toy Story 3 with Cars 2. Let's face it. The original Cars is many critics' least favorite Pixar movie. And Toy Story 3 is many critics' (Me included) favorite Pixar movie. So, following up Toy Story 3 with any other Pixar movie would have been bad because they would expect it to be on level or surpass Toy Story 3. That may never happen. So, Pixar decides to follow their best film with a sequel to their so-called "worst" film, thereby causing people to go into Cars 2 with low expectations. But, does Cars 2 really as bad as critics are saying. Short answer: No.
I thought Cars 2 was great. I had a very fun time watching the movie. Is it as good as Pixar's other movies? No. But I don't think it was supposed to be as good. I think Pixar wanted to just have fun for once. And they succeeded. No, there are not moments that will make you cry like in Toy Story 3. The closest the film get is when Weezer's "You Might Think" (Great song) starts playing over a scene of Mater and McQueen bonding around Toyko. However the film is just a lot of fun.  It's cool to see how the spy stuff we see in other spy movies are made to be used by cars. The film looks great too. There are beautiful vistas and plenty of jokes hidden in the background.

The Verdict: Overall, Cars 2 is not the epic masterpiece we've come to expect from Pixar. But, that's all-right. Because Cars 2 is just a ton of fun. If you have kids, they'll love it, so take them to see it. (I say take your kids even though I think all of my readers ar my teenage friends on Facebook.) And if you've ever played with toy cars when you were younger (Or still do. Admit it. You do.) then you'll have a great time. I had a great time which is why I'm giving Cars 2 the one of the highest rating I've got: 5.5 out of 6.

P.S. See it in 2D. I hear the 3D ruins the look of the film. Also comment below and let me think of what you thought about Cars 2.

"Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs" Review

Look up in the sky! It's raining Spoilers! THIS IS A SPOILER WARNING!

Introduction: Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs is based off of the children's book of the same name that was written by Judi and Ron Barrett. Both the book and the film follows an inventor, Flint (Played by Bill Hader) after he invents a machine that turns water into food. After a mishap involving a power station, the machine is sent up to the sky, where it starts making it rain food. However, when the food starts to get bigger and bigger, it's up to Flint to save the town. The film also stars Anna Faris as a reporter (and Flint's love interest), Bruce Campbell as the Mayor, Mr. T as a police officer and Neil Patrick Harris as a talking monkey.

The Review: This film is very similar to The Polar Express in that it's based off of a short book, therefore making me wonder if it will be able to support a feature-length runtime. However while Express could, Cloudy couldn't. You see, Express increased it's runtime by building on to the original story by adding new, interesting characters and by going deeper into the train ride than the book did. Cloudy on the other hand, boosts it's runtime by dragging scenes on for too long.
Take for example the end of the movie. Flint is about to destroy the machine by sending a kill code through the machine that tells the other machine what to do. (It makes more sense in the movie. Kind of.) However when the Mayor destroys the machine, Flint rebuilds his flying car to deliver the kill code manually. (Why he didn't just rebuilt the machine that could send the code is a mystery.) Then, while he's in the flying the car to the machine, he drops the kill code out of the window. So, then he gets his father to e-mail the kill code to his cell phone. But, the father doesn't know how to use e-mail. So, Flint walks his father through it, but then the computer gets destroyed. BUT THEN, his father some how sends the email even though the computer is destroyed. BUT THEN, it turns out his father e-mailed him the wrong thing. So, Flint ends up just cloging the machine to make it expolde, therefore making every scene with the kill code, entirely pointless.
The film also increases it's runtime by have an over-abundence of jokes. While yes the movie is funny, I couldn't help but fell like I did while I was watching the Cars Toons. You know, I enjoyed the shorts, but the whole time I was painfully aware of the fact that these shorts were made just to make more toys. With Cloudy, I did enjoy the jokes, but the whole time I was painfully aware of the fact that they are making these jokes is just to make the movie longer. I mean the best way to put is is like this. Imagine I give you a piece of cake that tastes like cardboard, but I cover the cake in good-tasting frosting. Sure, the frosting's good but it doesn't make the cake not taste like cardboard. Now just replace the cake with a movie and the frosting with jokes and you get Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs.

The Verdict: Overall, Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs is a funny film, but it's plot is paper-thin and it just goes on for too long. It's would have been better if it were an hour and 15 minute direct-to-DVD film. 3.5 out of 6.

"Cars Toon Mater's Tall Tales" DVD/Blu-Ray Review

Introduction: In between the time Pixar made Cars and Cars 2, they made 7 short films based off of Larry the Cable Guy's Mater. Each short played out the exact same way: Mater tells Lightning McQueen of an old job he used to have; following McQueen's disbelief, Mater tells him a story from this job; partway through Mater add McQueen into the story: the short ends with McQueen still in disbelief, only to see something from Mater's story in the real world. This DVD complies all 7 shorts, plus two new ones and special features.

The Shorts:
Rescue Squad Mater: The shortest of the 9, this short places Mater in the role of both a fire truck and a doctor as he saves McQueen from a fire. This short does a pretty good job capturing the feel of shows like Emergency! And while it is the shortest, it still is pretty funny.

Mater the Greater: This short shows Mater as a world famous daredevil named, you guessed it, Mater the Greater. While not the funniest, this short does has it's moment, including a predictable yet still funny joke when Mater tries to job cars at the beginning of the short.

El Materdor: Easily the worst of the short, this one has Mater play a bulldozer fighter. This short is just one joke repeated over and over again: Mater is a bull fighter. Lame.

Unidentified Flying Mater: This nice-looking short has Mater and McQueen help a cute little UFO escape from the military. Little on gags, but still fun to watch.

Tokyo Mater: The longest (and nicest-looking) of the shorts, and the only one theatrically released, this one features Mater as he is challenged to a drift race in Tokyo. Like UFM, this one is short on jokes, but still is a fun to watch. Especially on Blu-Ray.

Heavy Metal Mater: One of the funniest on the set, this one is also the most out of place. Most of these shorts involve jobs kids want to have. Astronaut? Yes. Firefighter? Yes. Race car driver? Yes. Singer in a heavy metal band? That's a stretch. Anyway, this one hase mater become the lead sing in a heavy metal band. Very funny, even if the joke can be stupid. (When it shows how Mater band got it's name? I had to pause the DVD.)

Monster Truck Mater: In the last of the original shorts, Mater and McQueen become tag-team wrestlers. Weaker than the others, but still chuckle-worthy.

Moon Mater: The first of the two now short, an astronaut is stuck on the moon and it's up to Mater to save the day. Funny, though I would've like to see more of the rocket ship.

Mater Private Eye: The last and best of the short, has Mater as a P.I. searching for a missing car. Very funny spoof of old detective film's kids may not get, but I thought it was funny. Plus, it shows that Pixar still looks good in black and white.

Special Features:
Unmade Tales: This is the bulk of the extras and thankfully, it's really cool. Pixar animaters voice over storyboards of shorts they didn't film, including one where Mater is a model and another as a stuntcar. My personal favorite was a Back to the Future spoof.

Mater Bumper-to-Bumper: This featurette fittingly enough is all about how the character of Mater was created. Fairly interesting, though it would have worked better in a full-length documentary.

Studio Stories: McQueen Has No Hands: Unfittingly, this studio story (story of something interesting that happened at Pixar during a movie's filming) feels like it was left off of the Cars dvd because, while ineresting and funny, it has nothing to do with the Cars Toons or even Mater!

Mater Intros: Quick, but funny, variations of Mater saying "If I'm lyin', I'm Cryin'" played in front of each short.

Mater Private Eye Trailer: A very quick spoof of detective movie trailers this time. Pointless, but fine.

The Verdict: Cars Toon Mater's Tall Tales is a fun DVD/Blu-Ray. Almost all over the shorts are fun and funny and your kids will be entertained hugely by this, especially boys. However, there isn't many special features and I sure you could find all of the shorts online, so, in the end, is the $20 DVD worth it? Probably not, but is is worth seeing. So, overall, 4.5 out of 6.

Cinema Won's Guide to Ratings

As you may have noticed I have been switching how I rate movies when I review them. Sometimes, I grade them out of 10. Sometimes, I grade them out of 5. Other times, I may not grade them at all. But now I have finally gotten a ratings system I'm happy with, so this is a quick rundown of what the ratings mean. Simply put, I am going to give what I am review one of five ratings.

WITH FRIENDS- So, this means that the movie is bad, but if you watch the movie with friends and make fun of it, you may find it will give you a fun time. So, basically, this is the so bad it's good rating. Example: the Transformers series.

SKIP IT- This one's pretty straight forward. Do not see this movie. There is little to no redeaming factor to this movie. Example: Miss March.

RENT IT- This one means that, while the movie is worth seeing, it isn't worth the full price of adimission. Rent the movie off of Netflix or Redbox. Example: I Am Number Four.

RECOMMENDED- This movie is good. Make an effort to go see it in theaters. I liked and I think you will too. Example: Thor.

MUST-SEE- If you do not see this movie in theaters, you have made a major mistake and should go punish yourself by playing Monopoly alone. Example: Super 8.

So there you have it. Next time I review something, I will give it one of these ratings. But, until then...
See you later.

P.S. Seriously go see Super 8 if you haven't already. You wouldn't be disappointed.

Cinema Wins and Cinema Sins: Super-Sized Volume 5

My vacation is over and I back with this super-sized CWCS that will cover the past 3 weeks I've missed.
CINEMA WINS
- Ed Harris and Matthew Fox will join Brad Pitt in the big zombie movie ever, World War Z. Z, which is being made on a budget of $125 Million is based off of the Max Brooks novel of the same name. The film (and novel) follow the same story every single zombie story follows: a group of survivors try to survive the zombie outbreak. But this has a lot of big name stars and and big budget. And as we all now, big budget movies are always good. Right?

- As any fan of Mad Magazine know, one of the best parts of the magazine is Spy Vs Spy. And as any fan of film knows, Ron Howard is a pretty good director. So when it was annouced that Ron Howard may be directing a Spy Vs Spy movie, things looked pretty cool. If Howard plays his cards right this could be great. Or it could be The Dilemma. And nobody want another Dilemma.

- While doing interviews for Larry Crowne Tom Hanks may have let slip that Pixar is working on Toy Story 4. This is a boarderline good/bad idea because, while all of the Toy Story movies have been good, Toy Story 3 wrapped everything up pretty well. So, is Pixar working on Toy Story 4? If they are, will it be good? Will Tom Hanks every stop being awesome? Only time will tell.

- 2013 is set to be a big year for film. So big in fact that, while it is one of my Cinema Wins, I can't fit it all in this article, so tomarrow look for my list of what's coming out in 2013.

CINEMA SINS
- Studios lately have been very interested in giving movies dark and gritty feels. The Batman series, Spider-Man and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are just a few of the movies getting this treatment. So, what movie is getting a dark and gritty adaptation next, you may ask. Why, Hot Wheels of course! Do I even need to explain why a dark and gritty Hot Wheels movie is a sin.

- Jim Grant's british novel series about a former U.S. Army Military Police Major named Jack Reacher is being adapted for a new film called One Shot. Tom Cruise is set to satr as Reacher. so why is this a sin you may ask. Well, because Reacher is said to be a giant at 6 foot 5. And Tom Cruise is 5 foot 7. It's funny because Tom Cruise is short.

- Let me tell you a liitle story. A few years back Disney made an odd decision to make a movie based off of one of their rides. Many people said that this movie will be a failure. Now, what movie came out of Disney's odd idea? Why a little film called Pirates of the Carribean. Ever since Disney has tried (and failed) to recapture the success that the Pirates series was. They tried to make sequels. They tired making Prince of Persia. The closest they ever got was reviving Tron for Tron: Legacy. But, know Disney thinks they've got the new success. A movie based on their Matterhorn ride. Because that's not despreate at all.

- Adaptation of children's show hardly ever go over well with anyone but kids. But that's not gonna stop studios from trying. Now Ben 10 will step into the ring and try to be appealing to both kids and adults. Now of all of the children's shows out there, Ben 10 has a pretty good shot at being, well, good. I mean, it's about a kid that is 10 superheroes in one. That's pretty kick-ass. But, then again it's Cartoon Network, so...

See you later

P.S. Happy Fourth of July!
