"Katy Perry: Part of Me 3D" Review

I watched Katy Perry's new movie ust to try it. I hoped my friends don't mind it. It felt so wrong it felt so right. Don't mean 'm in love tonight. I saw Katy Perry's new movie and I liked it. I liked it. This is Katy Perry: Part of Me 3D!

I've always kinda sorta liked Katy Perry. I like her songs more than I like most other songs on the radio.  That said, I wasn't sure I was what the people marketing this movie thought of when trying to advertise it. I wasn't her biggest fan and this was the first concert movie I had ever seen. But, it was either this or the new Madea movie and this was obviously the better choice.
The fact that the movie is also pretty good helps too. Now, granter, if you downright hate Katy Perry before going into this movie, you're probably not gonna leave the theater liking it. But, I have to say, for an only kinda sorta fan, this movie is a lot of fun. This can mostly be chalked up to the fact that Perry has an onscreen presence. She's fun to watch and clearly is trying to provide the best entertainment for her fans. Plus, I like her music, so in a concert film, that helps.

So ya. This happens.
Though, if that was the only thing this film had going for it, it wouldn't be really worth see. What makes the film worth seeing is the documentary aspect of it. The film is mostly broken into four parts: One showing Perry's childhood (She released a gospel album!) and her early struggles being produced. The second showing her fame after I Kissed a Girl. The third shows the behind the sceens of the concert tour.
But the fourth part is what makes the film so interesting. Though most films of this nature will shy way from darker subject, Part of Me shows the breakdown of Perry's and Russel Brand's marriage. It surprising the emotion shown on screen and the fact that the film doesn't try to make Brand (Who is seen in the film) out to be a bad guy. It gives the film just enough to make it completely interesting.
But all films have their flaws. Like how this film has some of the worst 3D ever put to screen. The film is about as 3D as a stick figure. I think that the theater just gave me sunglasses and told me I was watching a 3D movie.

Yes she sings. What else were you expecting?
Yes, I'm not exactly the person Katy Perry: Part of Me 3D was meant for. That being said, it didn't keep me from having fun with the movie. The music is fine, Perry is great and the looks into her life are surprisingly interesting. The 3D's bad and the movie's a little long, but overall, it a lot of fun. Katy Perry: Part of Me 3D gets 5 stars out of 6.
