The Battle of the Snow Whites

Weather because of Twilight or last year's Alice in Wonderland 2012 is going to be seeing the release of not one, but TWO new movies based off of the character Snow White. And as both released their trailers this past week, I figured now was as good a time as ever to say my thoughts on the subject.

The first film, Snow White and the Huntsman stars Twilight's own Kristen Stewart and Charlize Theron. The film follows Theron's Evil Queen as she order a huntsman (Thor's Chris Hemsworth) to find and kill Stewart's Snow White. The trailer actually looks pretty good. Theron looks like a good villain and the world the film takes place in is impressively cool looking. I would have liked to see more of Stewart and Hemsworth though. Overall, not bad. Snow White and the Huntsman will be release on June 1, 2012.

The other film, Mirror Mirror, is being director by Tarsem, who is hot off the release of his laterest film Immortals, which did well over the weekend. The film stars Lily Collins as Snow White and Julia roberts as the Evil Queen. The plot is... pretty much the same as Snow White and the Huntsman. The biggest difference between the two movie is while Snow White and the Huntsman looks good, Mirror Mirror looks absolutely awful. The film seems like it can't decide weather or not it wants to be a comedy or epic. It seems to be merging the two with disasterous results. The trailer is painfully unfunny. Again, Collins is hardly seen in the trailer, but what we do see looks to be pretty weak. Roberts look decent as the Evil Queen. The whole thing just looks like a horrible mess waiting to happen.
