The Undefined Gamer is still watching Nickelodeon.
He has no friends.
This time around in the Bikini Bottom, Spongebob is made of clay, and
Plankton has laced fruitcakes with Jerktonium, which, turns people
into jerks. Spongebob, however, eats the cakes fine without any ill
effect. This leads to Spongebob gaining control of the dejected
fruitcake cart (by the way, Spongebob can't drive), and Spongebob
precedes to deliver Plankton's dastardly cakes.
Plankton plans to make everyone look like jerks to Santa (who can
breathe water), so by comparison, he will look alright, and get what
he always wanted for Christmas: The Krabby Patty secret recipe. As the
cakes don't work on Spongebob, Plankton builds a giant nutcracker
robot to take his place and ruins his name, because Santa is really
stupid enough to get those two mixed up.

This special is scary. |
Apparently he is! And it almost works, for the nutcracker robot
attacks Santa last minute, foiling everything! We even get claymations
of Patchy the Pirate and Patty before commercials! It's great!
Although not too funny or clever, the special certainly does rank
number 2 on my Spongebob Christmas Specials List (it's just not the
very first Christmas). The claymation is nice, and pays homage to all
the great claymated christmas movies like A Year Without a Santa Claus
and Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer in many ways (Patchy's face is
shaped exactly like the mailman, when he is driving the stolen
mailsled). I expected a little more of a comeback from Spongebob
writing wise, but it could've been worse. Unfortunately, like the new
cartoons, this one comes out as just ok. Plus, it’s got a really ugly Santa Claus.
And isn’t that the true meaning of Christmas?
